Working for Bees is a family run honey producer based in the Makoni district of Zimbabwe who promote sustainable beekeeping. They are committed to growing and strengthening the beekeeping industry and the community within the district.

As proponents of Nature-based Beekeeping, Working for Bees realised that their skills and expertise could help support their community they while growing awareness for bees and beekeeping.

Since 2021 Working for Bees has been helping landless women in the district learn the skills needed to generate an income from beekeeping.

The relationship between bees and trees is a well known example of symbiosis. In Makoni district much of the once rich miombo woodland has been cut down to grow crops or has been degraded by fire. Beekeepers play an important role in regenerating this woodland back to its natural state.

Working for Bees is training 100 rural women in nature-based beekeeping techniques to create a sustainable income. In order to support their beekeeping and help to make it a viable income stream long term these women are also helping to plant and nurture seedlings grown in a new nursery that has the capacity to grow 20,000 seedlings a year. The beekeepers are also taught to manage the woodland and protect it and their apiaries from fires.
