One Donation, Twice the Impact for Bees, Trees and People

Bees for Development, the Monmouth-based charity that makes life better with bees around the world, is running a week-long appeal starting this Earth Day, Thursday 22 April. With the funds raised, they will train at least 200 people living near Digya National Park in Ghana to keep bees sustainably and to enrich forest habitat. For this week only, every pound given will be doubled by a new Green Match Fund.

2021 will be a critical year for the environment, as people come to terms with the impacts of COVID-19. There is a real need for people to build an income in a way that is sustainable and beneficial to nature. This is where beekeeping in this part of Ghana, where bees are naturally abundant, comes in. Bees provide honey. Beekeepers protect forests. Honey selling reduces reliance on charcoal burning, hunting, timber-cutting and other illegal activities, so reversing biodiversity loss.

The emergency Green Match Fund has been set up by The Big Give, the leading online match funding platform to help charities tackle climate change, protect species, eliminate waste, and improve sustainability.

Bees and beekeeping enable people to build a sustainable living, feeding their families while protecting biodiversity, too.
