Our Ethiopian Safari will comprise …

… a meander through the ancient highlands of northern Ethiopia, where you will visit the rock churches of Lalibela – named after King Lalibela whose sovereignty was heralded by a swarm of bees at birth. You will witness the richness of beekeeping culture in Ethiopia, meet beekeepers on the shores of Lake Tana and see how they make basket hives, learn Ethiopian swarm-catching methods – and you will also have the chance to hear how these lovely people work around the thousands of local plant species to nurture their bee colonies, not as a light-hearted hobby but as a means to escape destitution. There will be a unique opportunity to taste the famous Ethiopian honey wine, see some of the oldest churches in the world and visit the source of the Blue Nile.

This safari is not limited to beekeepers, and is suitable for anybody who is interested in bees. 

The price includes:

• Good quality accommodation with all meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner
• All local travel, including 3 internal flights from Addis to Gondar, Bahir Dar to Lalibela, and Lalibela to Addis
• All visits detailed in the above itinerary
