This September, as children go back to school, many in Ghana will be going back to classes with a difference! We currently have ten Buzz Clubs with over 200 students enrolled in Donkorkrom, Afram Plains. We’re excited to announce we are raising funds to add five new Buzz Clubs.

Buzz Clubs are school sessions where students learn practical beekeeping skills and the importance of protecting the environment.

We are aiming to raise £10,000 to:

• Establish five new school apiaries

• Teach 100 new students beekeeping skills

• Train teachers in the Buzz Club curriculum

• Employ a Buzz Club coordinator to provide ongoing support

£25 pays for teaching and learning pack to support the Buzz Clubs including a Teacher’s Handbook, picture cards and art materials

£50 pays for a set of protective clothing, beekeeping tools and smoker for a Buzz Club pupil

£75 pays for fencing and planting fruit trees for the bees in the school apiary

£100 pays for building materials and training to make bee hives for the school apiary

What is a Buzz Club?

Buzz Club Ghana is Bees for Development Ghana’s maiden project, educating school children about pollinators, the role of bees in food production, and biodiversity conservation.

Training begins for Buzz Club teachers in Ghana

Bees for Development Ghana have now begun training thirteen basic school teachers in the Buzz Club curriculum, including sessions on practical beekeeping and environmental stewardship.
