A search of the Chinese literature produced information on the geographical races of A. cerana and their distribution in China.  Some of the published data were subjected to statistical analyses, and results suggested that there are 5 races in China (Hainan, Esatern, Southern Yunnan, Aba, and Xizang (Tibet) races).  A further 5 biotypes may also exist.  the distribution limits of each, and certain discrepancies in the results, are discussed.
