I would like to start beekeeping at our school in Uganda. We would like to raise some money to support the school pupils. How can you help us?

Thank you for your email. The reasons you give for wanting to start beekeeping at your school are excellent reasons and we would like to encourage you with this project.
First let me explain that we are not a funding organisation and are unable to help with donating money.
One of the other advantages of beekeeping is that it is not necessary to find much money in order to begin. It is possible to begin with a few local-style hives which can be purchased for less than USHS 5000 (EURO 2) each. You can also ask local traditional beekeepers in the community to help you harvest honey when the time is ready. When you have sold some small quantities of honey from your first few local-style hives you can earn enough money to buy other items which you need. An advantage of this approach is that whilst you are also helping children to learn about beekeeping you can also teach about how it is possible to develop a project using available resources and it is not necessary to wait for outside help.
