Traditionally beekeepers keep bait hives and/or regular hives on a branch of a tree, of a species preferred by bees. But, I wondered when I saw these hives hanging on a high tension power pole. I found all hives colonized by bee colonies and are strong.  I came to realize that bees nest anywhere they find comfortable to them. This might be uncommon elsewhere in the world.
