English abstract.
This is part of a report of a 3 week visit to China in 1983. The number of colonies of Italian honeybees throughout the country is 3 million. At the Institute of Apiculture, Beijing, work includes research on bee races, feeding bees, and bee forage and pollination. Robinia pseudoacacia is one of the most valuable bee plants. Varroa jacobsoni is controlled quite effectively in northern areas but this mite, and also Tropilaelaps clareae, are serious pests in the south. In the Lanzhou region, Italian bees are common in the hills (1500 m), but they are considered to be unimportant as pollinators on the Horticultural State Farm. Fruit trees are regarded as anemophilous.
