The specialist international beekeeping organisation
We are Kamwenge Beekeepers Cooperative Society, a community-based honey trading company based in Kamwenge in western Uganda. Bees for Development helped us develop our business model and our organisational capacity. Our aim is to ensure that beekeepers in the rural district of Kamwenge in Uganda have a reliable and fair access to a market for their honey and beeswax. Each year we trade in about 15 tonnes of honey which we supply to outlets throughout Uganda.
We worked with Bees for Development in the Uganda Honey Trade Project. The four year project was completed in 2014. The project enabled KABECOS to achieve financial sustainability as a honey marketing group based in the community - with the result that we can continue to provide good market access for local beekeepers.
