Poverty figures

According to figures provided by the World Bank, about 500 million people are said to have overcome poverty between 1981 and 2005. These numbers would indicate that the number of poor people in developing countries has dropped from 52% to 26% during the same period. Nevertheless, it is estimated that about a thousand million people will still be living below the poverty line in 2015, despite the current pace in the fight against poverty. (Source www.iadb.org)
