“Small businesses build big economies"

  • A Kenyan not-for-profit development organization, registered under the Companies Act –in operation since 1996

  • Goal: Promotion of employment opportunities and economic growth among small-scale producers and enterprises

  • Working with urban informal sector and rural agri businesses (dairy, fruits and apiculture) as well as action research on BDS emerging opportunities.

  • Main focus of work is facilitation of BDS services provision.

  • Long-term partnership with APT ED UK
     

Example of Taita District

  • Kenya11200 honey producers firmly in the production/ marketing chain.

  • 4500 hives (2500 Langstroth) log and top-bar hives.

  • 10 artisans profitably producing inputs (hives, bee suits, implements/ tools).

  • Honey refinery – providing quality market honey (230 tonnes per year target).
    Collection centres for honey distribution of inputs etc.
