This Safari is hosted by Mr Gladstone Solomon, President of Tobago Apicultural Society and of the Association of Caribbean Beekeeping Organizations.
Gladstone has been a BfD partner for 20 years and is a BfD Trust Trustee. Gladstone's speciality is a programme that caters for all and his flexible approach ensures you will not miss any of the sights, treasures or current events.
This Safari is organised by Biyotematur and the TEMA Foundation, Turkey in co-operation with Bees for Development.
Biyotematur are experienced in organising nature tours and are a division of the non-profit making TEMA Foundation, established to promote conservation and sustainable development In the Caucasus Region of north-east Turkey. A remarkable project has been taking place planning to conserve precious stocks of Caucasian honey bees Apis mellifera caucasica to provide people in this remote corner of Turkey with a reliable livelihood, and to support beekeeping throughout Turkey by provision of queen bees. These Caucasian bees are gentle and efficient honey producers, and our Safari provides a unique opportunity to view this excellent rural development project as part of the extensive and enjoyable itinerary.
