A Bees for development event
On the 20th December 2017, the United Nations General Assembly officially declared May 20th as World Bee Day.
To celebrate World Bee Day, Bees for Development and Bee Friendly Monmouthshire host the UK's only World Bee Festival, called the Monmouth Bee Festival.
Take part in our tombola, Bee Safari, honey tasting events, live theatre or purchase a pesticide-free bee friendly plant for your garden, then unwind with a tea and locally made cake.
Come and visit all the local community organisations, and your local beekeeper to learn what they do and how you can help support our bees.
Dr Nicola Bradbear, founder of BfD said, “We all owe so much to bees. BfD witnesses every day how they revitalise impoverished communities across the planet, by delivering sustainable livelihoods. This Monmouth festival is all about celebrating bees – with a range of fantastic activities for everyone at Nelson Garden and across the town from 10am. With live bees, a bee theatre, family fun activities, competitions, plants, stalls, food, drink and so much more, there’ll be a real buzz across Monmouth. We're encouraging everyone in the local community to support the event and show their love for bees.”
All proceeds go towards Bees for Development.
