Peter G Kevan 2007 345 pages Soft cover (K750)

The University of Guelph, Canada has a long tradition of apicultural education. This text is based on lecture notes and other course material prepared for students by Peter Kevan in recent years. It consists of 51 chapters, each one made up of several pages of text and pictures that each forms the basis for an informative lecture on the topic. Chapters are organised within eleven sections. The first seven sections dscuss all important aspects of bee biology, while the next three cover beekeeping applications: a historical view, problems in the bee yard and products. The final section discusses other bees that are managed for pollination.

This is an excellent introduction to bee biology that will help beekeepers to understand the biological reasons that determine honey bee management.
